Im 17 and my hairlines receding, shave it?

Baldness runs in the family and its finally run its way to me. Should I shave my head? I used to have shoulder length hair (I know its crazy) now its about 2 inches but its hard to like cover up where my hairs receding and it looks weird if my hair doesnt dry right. Should I try shaving it? Give me your honest opinion
