I've just been to my dentist yesterday. He said I got a "10 out of 10" because I have great teeth and gums, no cavities, floss regularly, etc. I apparently overbrushed at one point and wore the gum away at one back tooth. Now it's sensitive to cold; I now have a special toothpaste for it. I'm not satisfied with that, though, so if I massage my gums, is it possible that this will grow back at all? It seems like the official answer is "no." Has anyone here had this problem or known someone who has? Any solutions that don't involve surgery?

Am i being haunted by a demon?

Well i think i am being haunted by this demon, it has been following me mostly my whole life. Now my name has 3 meanings, one of which means "devil spawn" and i am mentally insane and i have manic depression, but i do not think this is just in my head. It is worst when i am at my dad's house visiting. One night it called my name right before i fell asleep and then at some time in the night it screamed at me to wake up. I thought it was just a nightmare and tried to sleep but when i went to lay down i saw a shadow and then i threw me down onto the bed. I was hysterical and frantically called my friend in a rush of tears. The next day my sister was asking me all about it. And my friend, who is also mental...but she agreed that it wasn't just me. I was afraid to go to sleep and i also suffer from monophobia, the fear of being alone. I can't even take being near the stairs because once when i was little i heard steps behind me. Thinking it was my brother, i thought nothing of it. Then i felt something give me a shove down the steps. I took the tumble and when i looked up, there was nobody there. i was about 6 when this happened. I am only 13 now but since then i have developed a state of psychosis, monophobia, and manic depression. I am also still paranoid and was then as well. As my parents are divorced, i travel a lot to my mom's and my dad's. I think it follows me because at my mother's house, I was playing on my DSI and i saw a shadow on the door creep closer, but when i looked, it receded. I keep having night terrors about that one night when it attacked me. I have gotten to a state of praying for protection at night, but when i do things like this, asking people for help, it worsens. I put a bible by my bed but when i was in our library room i touched it an i heard a voice rasp "NO" then the railing on the stairs rattled. I dropped the bible and ran away. that night i had my brother put it on my night stand for me. It did nothing, in fact the phenomenon got worse. I feel like when i ask for help from the forums, it feels provoked. when i do this, it scratches the walls. when i pray at night it bangs the walls and scratches them. One night i was sleeping, wearing a low tank top, as it was summer. I awoke the next morning to find scratches on my arms, neck, shoulders, ankle, and on the tops of my breasts running to my throat. I have horrible thoughts that it could, and may kill me. I am scared so much, but nobody takes me seriously, as i am insane, but they don't take me seriously when i say its a demon, in fact, my brother taunts me saying "was it the ghosts?!" I really want and NEED help but nobody listens to a paranoid 13 year old girl. please somebody tell me what to do!!

Braces in 40s with receding gum, badly crooked teeth and lots of filling.?

Reading past posts, i understand there is no max age for wearing braces, however i have receding gum issue (dentists told me) and quite bad crooked teeth. Also most of my mollars have filling. In short, mines are in pretty bad shape and surely will require lots of work, time and cause PAIN. Hence, I wonder if it's worth it as i'm 40yo. Try to angle your brush at 45 degrees to the gumlines and brush down from the top, up from the bottom. This is called modified bass technique-you can look it up online. If you notice your toothbrush bristle flaring you are brushing too hard and should replace your brush. Use a sensitivity toothpaste- brush with it and smear a bit on the teeth after using a clean finger-just let it sit. Also, if you are grinding this can also cause recession, definately get a nightguard made-it is a plastic guard you can wear at night to protect your teeth, I would suggest getting it from a dentist as it is custom fitted.

There are spaces between my lower teeth where air can go through, Anyone have advice?

I noticed about a week and a half ago that my gums were noticeably receding and starting to bleed in the gaps between my teeth and the gum behind my bottom front teeth felt like there were gaps in the gum right below the teeth. Then I went to the dentists yesterday to get a long overdue cleaning and I asked the dentists assistant about it and she said she didnt notice anything out of the ordinary apart from enflamed gums. But today it seems like there are tiny gaps below my front lower teeth where air seems to get through. Also anytime air goes through these gaps it caues discomfort. Is this really normal or is there something wrong? Are there any ways to reverse the gum recession to cover these susposed "air holes"?

What I would do is use curlers. Don't use the hot kind though, use the silk kind you leave in overnight. How ever if you leave them in TOO long they make ringlets. If this happens, don't brush them out just seperate them with your fingers.

Ok so I just got a pair of clippers and gave myself a number 1 buzz cut, which is great looking, except I noticed that in pics of a number 1 cut, the hairline has a straight, round look, and I noticed my hairline is kind of receding. HELP!! 1930's home has SEVERELY clogged shower drain?

Call a pro. They can send a camera down to see what's going on down there. Don't cut the pipe. That will probably only bring you more problems without solving the original one. I'm with some of the other posters here. In a home that age, you probably have clay and/or cast iron pipes that have either settled so they don't drain like they should, or they are just plain past their useful life. I've had 2 homes that vintage and both suffered from drainage problems. One had clay pipes that had settled and broken, and with the other we never did figure out what was wrong(the plumbers suspected a fault in the city's line but the city didn't agree) and ended up installing a new line to the street and a backflow preventer.

The "edit in photoshop" link is not click-able when I try to edit my video through photoshop. Well, what I do (Cause I have pretty bad anxiety issues) is closing my eyes and picturing the best thing possible. For example, if your craaaving icecream, close your eyes and picture yourself eating icecream. there could be several causes to this, so only a dentist can evaluate you and tell you why it is happening. Some common causes are over zealous brushing. You may be brushing too hard, or using a toothbrush that is too hard and it is abrading your gums. Only use a soft bristle toothbrush and when you brush do not use a scrubbing motion. Place your toothbrush at a 45 degree angle (slightly angled toward your gums, so that the bristles will go slightly underneath your gums) when you brush, use a vibrating motion instead of scrubbing. Its much easier for me to show this than to try to describe it, so bear with me. Only brush a few teeth at a time. Plaque is soft and is easily removed, you do not need to scrub at it very hard for it to come off. The bad thing is that your gums will not "grow back". Once they are gone, they are gone, but you can prevent further loss by brushing lighter with a soft bristled toothbrush. Hope this helps.

i am 20 years old and my temples and hairline have receded very bad. on top of that the top is very thin. i look like i am 55. i think it is from stress because i never had any problems until i went to job corps. i was there for a year and two months. at first my temples receded but it wasnt too noticable. i always found myself looking at my hair in the mirror to the point where i was obsessing about my hair daily. i had headaches every day. thats why i think it is stress related. it wasnt that bad i just had small patches on my temples then it started getting bad real fast. i think i stressed myself out looking at the mirror all the time combined with the fact that i was in job corps which is a stressful environment in itself. i graduated 2 months ago and even now it still doesnt look too much better. there seems to be a few baby hairs growing back but i cant really tell. even after i came back home i was still obsessing in the mirror and feeling on my head all the time. i dont have money for a dermatologist i would have went by now. i think that if i just be patient and stop obsessing and worrying about it maybe my hair will start coming back. does anyone else think that this is the case and if so what else can i do help my hair come back. i really need my hair back i know it could be worse but my hair is really impotant to me

I have gum disease. I have white healthy teeth but I have really bad gums. My gums are really sore and swollen, red, shiny and inflamed. The look all cut open and I feel like my gums are receding. It looks like my gums are getting shorter and my teeth are appearing longer and it really hurting me. Help! I don't know what to do. I really worried as I want my mouth to be healthy. How do I get rid of gum disease. I have already been dentist. I have took antibiotics and have had 2 dental cleanings. False nails and lack of vitamin D. What is causing my onycholysis?

I have been wearing false nails for about 4 months and have recently been diagnosed with a vitamin D deficiency. Now I have noticed that my left pinky fingernail is separating from the nail bed at the left side of my nail and the cuticle is receding! I am a hair stylist and my hands are in water a lot; I have read that this probably is not helping the matter. What can I do about receding gums?

The gum line on the set of teeth behind my canine teeth (4th set back on the top) is starting to recede , and I can feel it when I brush. well the only thing i can tell you to prevent hair loss is don't use too much hair gel because it clogs pores. if you do use a lot of gel, try to use a professional one and try not to apply it too much on the scalp. also buy a good shampoo. don't use the crap they sell at target walmart etc cuz they have too much sulfur.ex head n shoulders has harsh chemicals to remove dandruff not treat it and pantene just coats your hair that's why it says it makes your hair thick. it doesn't fix split ends it just coats them and coats ur scalp again which clogs pores and doesn't let your scalp breathe. my advise is to get a scalp massage every time you go for a haircut. supercuts charges 25 bucks for haircut, massage n shampoo so its not like ur spending too much. usually men get the scalp massage but women can get them too. ive gotten one and it feels sooo relaxing which is good if you are stressing. stress makes hair fall too. oh and hairspray has too much alcohol too so get a professional one. oh and when you apply gel or shampoo make sure you work it through your hands first and then work from back to front. that's why people start loosing their hair at their hairline because when we put product in our hair, we don't work it in our hands first and we end up putting a big amount in the front all the time. hope this helps.

If it were me, I think I would wait/pass. Young kittens (under 12 months) and old cats are thought to be at highest risk. Also contagious parts are thought to hang in the environment up to several months, and some things would be hard to effectively disinfect. Gap along my gums after root canal?

Had a root canal today, and the crown done today as well. The front of my teeth my gums are clearly inflamed and puffy and covering down around the "tooth" a bit. You are so lucky your parents support you. I think Plan B is better, because it's closer to your home and I'm sure going for so long will make you miss your dad and friends. I think plan A is too complicated, because anything could go wrong. But also, think of it this way. California will be full of girls with the same dreams and determination as you and your friend. I don't think you will get into a movie/tv series except for being extras, because nowadays, you have to be PERFECT to get seen. If you don't have much acting experience, you won't get considered. Stars are born and raised on set. They have been on the screens, small and big since they were born. They will be considered over you (Sorry if this is negative). I don't think it's so easy to get part time jobs/an apartment straight away. Before you have enough money for the apartment, where will you live? What happens if you get a role in a series/movie, and your friend doesn't? Will she go back to Illinois for the normal 6 months? Or vice-versa? Consider the consequences before trying to move to California. I'm very lucky. The closest performing arts school to me is 15mins drive away, but I'm not going there. I'm going to a private school with an amazing theatre and music program. I wouldn't consider plan 1. It's too much like a perfect fantasy, so I don't think it would work. Sorry again if I'm being negative. Go for Plan B, if you can.
